Industry NewsMayo GAA renews Intersport Elverys and Portwest jersey deals for four years
Mayo GAA has renewed its long-standing jersey partnerships with Intersport Elverys and Portwest for a further four years, securing two Mayo-based businesses as backers through the county’s defence of the All-Ireland football title in 2027, as it unveils the new home jersey. The launch came just over a day after Mayo won six nods at the PwC Football All-Stars.
The jersey keeps the familiar green and red colours, with a horizontal brush stroke effect in two shades of green and a red stroke across the chest where the Intersport Elverys sponsor sits. It also adds a three-colour crew neck in dark green, white and red, and is on sale from 30 October in all Intersport Elverys stores nationwide and online.
Intersport Elverys is Ireland’s oldest sports retailer, founded in 1847 and headquartered in Castlebar, Co Mayo, with 56 stores nationwide and nearly 800 employees. It is wholly Irish owned.
Portwest is a family-owned workwear and personal protective equipment manufacturer founded in 1904 and headquartered in Westport, Co Mayo, employing more than 5,000 people and selling in more than 130 countries.
Mayo GAA is the county board for Gaelic games in Mayo.
Ruairí Conroy, CEO of Mayo GAA, said the county is delighted to launch the jersey and, equally importantly, to confirm the renewal of both partnerships, adding that Intersport Elverys and Portwest have contributed significantly to Mayo through their support of Gaelic games and the employment and economic activity they generate locally.
Conroy added that Mayo GAA is proud to work alongside businesses that invest in the county.
Intersport Elverys had held the jersey position for 24 years before sharing it with a second sponsor for the first time, according to Advertiser.ie, which reported that the second sponsor was Portwest.
Portwest is described as family-owned and in its fourth generation, according to The Irish Times, which gives the county a locally rooted partner with global reach.
For the sector, the four-year renewal shows an inter-county board pairing a retailer and a manufacturer from its own county, tying jersey sponsorship to local employment rather than to national reach alone.
