Tattersalls Ireland has been confirmed as the new sponsor of the Norwegian 2,000 Guineas, which will take place at Øvrevoll Galoppbane in Oslo on 2 July, extending the Irish bloodstock auctioneer's presence at one of the most important days in the Norwegian racing calendar.

TDN Europe reported that the sponsorship builds on the long-standing involvement of parent company Tattersalls, which has sponsored the Norwegian 1,000 Guineas at the same meeting for many years. In 2026, the two races will be titled the Tattersalls 1,000 Guineas and the Tattersalls Ireland 2,000 Guineas respectively.

Simon Kerins, CEO of Tattersalls Ireland, said the company is delighted to extend its support to the Norwegian Guineas meeting and to further develop its relationships with owners, trainers and breeders, adding that they look forward to visiting Oslo in July and, before that, welcoming Norwegian clients to the breeze-up sale at the end of May.

Marianne Elk of Norsk Gallop said the organisation has had a long-standing partnership with Tattersalls for more than 20 years and is delighted to welcome Tattersalls Ireland on board for the first time, expressing hope that the collaboration will inspire Norwegian clients to travel to auctions to buy new horses and that it will make for a truly memorable day.

The expanded sponsorship arrangement deepens the commercial ties between Tattersalls Ireland and the Nordic bloodstock market, with the breeze-up sale connection offering a practical commercial pathway for Norwegian buyers ahead of the summer racing season.

Tattersalls Ireland is one of Ireland's leading thoroughbred auctioneers, operating sales at Goffs UK and its own facility at Ratoath, County Meath, across a full calendar of yearling, foal, breeze-up and horses-in-training sales throughout the year.
