Shell, the Netherlands-based integrated energy and gas company, has been confirmed as the principal sponsor of LNG2026, one of the world’s leading liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry gatherings, taking place in Doha, Qatar from February 2–5.

The event will explore current and future LNG developments under the theme Leading LNG: Powering Today and Tomorrow. Shell will use its sponsorship to highlight its expertise across the LNG value chain, including gas extraction, liquefaction, trading, shipping, regasification, and distribution.

“Shell’s principal sponsorship of LNG2026 highlights our strong global position in LNG and our commitment to supporting Qatar’s leadership in natural gas,” said Rob Maxwell, managing director and chairperson of Shell Companies Qatar.

Shell operates Pearl GTL, the world’s largest gas-to-liquids plant, and maintains local and global partnerships with QatarEnergy to convert natural gas into high-value products for worldwide use. In 2024, Shell sold 66 million tonnes of LNG—enough to heat the equivalent of 67 million average-sized European homes—demonstrating both scale and market integration.

Shell’s sponsorship underscores its support of Qatar’s long-term energy strategy, including major projects such as the North Field expansion, which incorporates carbon capture and storage technology to reduce emissions. Shell also operates one of the world’s largest LNG refuelling networks, spanning 26 bunkering locations across 12 countries, including the USA, Singapore, Spain, and the Netherlands.

“Visit Shell from February 2–5 at the Qatar National Convention Centre,” the company said in a statement.

The sponsorship positions Shell at the forefront of global LNG innovation, sustainability, and strategic partnership with one of the fastest-growing energy markets worldwide.
