Industry NewsNFU Mutual renews platinum sponsorship of Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend for 2026
NFU Mutual, the UK's leading rural insurer, has confirmed its return as platinum sponsor of the Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend in Northern Ireland, extending a relationship with the event that now spans more than a decade and reinforcing the insurer's commitment to the region's agricultural community.
Farming Life reported that the free-to-attend event, organised by the Ulster Farmers' Union, will run from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 June, with 23 farms across Northern Ireland opening their gates to visitors for behind-the-scenes access to modern agriculture and local food production.
NFU Mutual's continued backing includes funding from the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust as well as specialist insurance cover for farming members who welcome the public onto their land during the weekend.
Lauren Finlay, regional manager at NFU Mutual Northern Ireland, said Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend opens the gate to real farm life, giving families and young people the chance to understand where their food comes from and meet the people behind it, adding that supporting the event reflects the company's commitment to Northern Ireland's farming community and to nurturing the next generation's connection with agriculture.
The 2026 sponsorship will also be used to raise awareness of farm safety alongside the strength and quality of Northern Ireland's local food supply chain, with interactive demonstrations and educational activities planned across participating farms.
John McLenaghan, deputy president of the Ulster Farmers' Union, expressed gratitude for NFU Mutual's unwavering support over the years and said the organisation is delighted to have them continuing as platinum sponsor once again.
