Lidl Ireland Wins Best Sponsorship Brand at the Irish Sponsorship Awards 2024

Lidl Ireland has been named Best Sponsorship Brand at the Irish Sponsorship Awards 2024, earning top honours for its impactful “Get Behind the Fight” campaign, which continues to redefine the landscape of women’s Gaelic football.

The campaign represents a long-term commitment by Lidl to support the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA), with a €10 million investment pledged by 2025. The initiative is driving increased match attendance, promoting visibility for female athletes, and challenging long-standing inequalities in Irish sport.

Judges praised Lidl’s submission for its ambition, creativity, and tangible results. “Our panel really enjoyed reviewing this entrant’s exciting and ambitious goals,” noted the judging committee.

“The delivery and strong testimonials were outstanding, and the innovative use of music and social media gave the campaign exceptional reach and resonance.”

Through ‘Get Behind the Fight,’ Lidl has established itself not only as a retail leader but also as a powerful advocate for equality, community engagement, and the advancement of women in sport.

The Irish Sponsorship Awards 2025 will return on Thursday, 13 November 2025, at the Royal Marine Hotel, Dublin, celebrating the brands and organisations delivering impact through creative partnerships. The black-tie gala will feature a Panel Discussion spotlighting leading industry voices and their insights on the evolving sponsorship landscape.
