Google drives HIV Ireland Red Ball sponsorship
Google Ireland has confirmed its role as lead partner for HIV Ireland’s Red Ball, the organisation’s flagship fundraising event.
The Red Ball took place on 28 November, uniting senior leaders from tech, pharmaceutical, financial services, and consultancy sectors to support national programmes advancing HIV awareness, care, and prevention.
Stephen O'Hare, executive director of HIV Ireland, said: “Stigma remains one of the greatest barriers to ending new HIV transmissions. The Red Ball is more than a fundraising event, it is a platform for leadership which promotes awareness and progress. The support of global companies such as Google Ireland sends a powerful message. It's the level of commitment we need to tackle discrimination and promote health equity in Ireland.”
David Sneddon, VP gTech, EMEA at Google, added: “Google Ireland is proud to support HIV Ireland and the Red Ball Gala, recognising the organisation’s vital work in advocacy, education, and community support. Events like the Red Ball remind us how powerful it is when communities and partners come together to champion health and combat stigma. It’s essential that we all continue this work—raising awareness, challenging misinformation, and fostering a society where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.”
As part of HIV Ireland’s Glow Red campaign, over 40 landmark buildings and businesses across Ireland illuminated in red to show solidarity with people living with HIV. This year’s campaign emphasises the disproportionate impact of stigma on women living with HIV and promotes education, inclusion, and understanding.
