Electric Ireland becomes Irish Hotels Federation official energy sponsor

Electric Ireland has become official energy sponsor of the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) in a three-year agreement, according to Mayo News.

The Irish energy provider has been joint sponsor of the IHF Annual Conference for over ten years. The expanded remit will see Electric Ireland deepen engagement with the federation and its members, building on the strong relationship developed between both organisations and Electric Ireland's experience in supporting businesses to navigate energy and sustainability goals.

Electric Ireland currently works with more than 65,000 business customers nationwide. The Irish hotels and guesthouse sector generates estimated annual revenues exceeding €5 billion, directly employing over 69,000 people.

Ieuan Green, multi-channel sales manager at Electric Ireland, said the company remains committed to delivering innovative, customer-focused solutions. "As Ireland's leading energy provider, we remain committed to delivering innovative, customer focused solutions, and we are delighted to be announced as the official energy sponsor of the Irish Hotels Federation," he stated.

Michael Lennon, IHF Mayo branch spokesperson, said the federation looks forward to working with Electric Ireland over the next three years to help hotels and guesthouses achieve energy goals in terms of cost savings and environmental sustainability. "This is a key priority for local businesses within our sector as we look to increase cost competitiveness, reduce carbon footprint and maximise opportunities to achieve growth and sustainable business development," he noted.

The wider tourism and hospitality industry supports 270,000 livelihoods, including 6,000 jobs throughout Mayo, and generates €10 billion in revenue annually for the economy. Tourism-related activity generates over €2.9 billion in taxes annually for the state.
