Irish bookmaker BOYLE Sports is to open its 400th retail betting shop at Galway Racecourse as part of a new three-year partnership with the venue, as reported by Sport for Business, marking a significant retail milestone for a brand that began with a single shop in County Armagh in 1982.

The initial three-year agreement will see BOYLE Sports operate a dedicated on-course betting shop at Ballybrit, while also increasing its branding and wider presence across the Galway racing calendar.

The partnership also includes additional sponsorship opportunities at the track, with the new shop forming part of a broader race-day experience for customers and racegoers.

BOYLE Sports already holds the title sponsorship of the Saturday of the Galway summer festival, which features the €110,000 BOYLE Sports Handicap Hurdle and the €80,000 Galway Tribes Hurdle. The new partnership extends and deepens that existing commercial relationship with the racecourse.

The Galway announcement comes as BOYLE Sports continues to expand its retail footprint, including a recently announced £100 million (approximately €118 million) commitment to growing its presence in the UK market.

The bookmaker is already a major backer of Irish racing, holding title sponsorship of the Irish Grand National and maintaining partnerships and race sponsorships at Leopardstown, Navan and Killarney, as well as serving as long-term partner of the BOYLE Sports Irish Greyhound Derby at Shelbourne Park.

Sinéadh Crowe, head of Irish retail operations for BOYLE Sports, said the opening carried particular significance for the brand. "Opening our 400th shop here marks a major milestone in the BOYLE Sports journey and reflects just how far we've come since 1982," she said. "It's a proud moment for everyone involved and underlines our continued commitment to retail, Irish horse racing and delivering a top-class experience for customers on race day. The Galway Races is one of the standout events in the Irish sporting calendar, so we're delighted to be strengthening our relationship with the racecourse through this new multi-year partnership."

Michael Moloney, CEO of Galway Racecourse, said the deal reinforced the venue's commercial ambitions. "It's a real privilege to have BOYLE Sports open their 400th shop here on-site as part of this exciting new multi-year partnership with Galway Races," he said.
