Bank of America secures first professional sports jersey sponsorship with Timbers
Bank of America has entered professional sports with a front-of-kit sponsorship deal for the Portland Timbers, covering both home and away uniforms. The multiyear agreement marks the bank’s first-ever jersey placement in professional sports and is the most valuable sponsorship in the club’s history on an annual basis.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the Timbers confirmed it surpasses previous front-of-kit deals, though the club’s stadium naming-rights arrangement with Providence remains higher in total value. Most Major League Soccer (MLS) jersey sponsorships fall within mid-to-high seven-figure annual ranges, with Inter Miami’s deal with Royal Caribbean regarded as the most lucrative.
Elevate represented the Timbers during negotiations with Bank of America, while the former front-of-kit sponsor, Oregon-based dairy cooperative Tillamook, transitions to the right sleeve of the team’s jerseys.
The deal aligns with Bank of America’s broader strategy in soccer ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. The Charlotte-based bank was previously announced as a sponsor of the U.S. Soccer Federation and has appointed former MLS player David Beckham as a five-year brand ambassador.
As part of the partnership, Bank of America will bring its youth engagement programme, Soccer with Us, to Portland. The bank and Timbers will also work together to support small businesses through grants and an annual summit.
A Timbers spokesperson confirmed that the sponsorship is the largest in the club’s history on a yearly basis. The partnership strengthens Bank of America’s visibility in professional soccer and underscores its investment in local community initiatives.
