Industry NewsArnotts signs East of Ireland Championship sponsorship deal
Arnotts has agreed a three-year sponsorship deal for the East of Ireland Men’s Amateur Open Championship, marking the official launch of its Golf at Arnotts retail initiative. The partnership highlights how sponsorship activity is increasingly being used to support brand positioning, category expansion and customer engagement strategies in specialist sports markets.
Irish Golf Desk reported that the agreement coincides with the championship’s return to County Louth Golf Club from 29 to 31 May. The sponsorship forms part of a broader commercial push by Arnotts to strengthen its presence in golf retail through dedicated in-store experiences and expanded product offerings.
Founded in 1843, Arnotts has longstanding ties to golf, having operated one of Dublin’s largest golf departments during the 1990s. Its Golf at Arnotts campaign includes a dedicated in-store golf destination, an expanded selection of apparel brands such as Peter Millar and RLX Ralph Lauren Golf, alongside the addition of McGuirks Golf from June.
“As Captain of County Louth Golf Club it is my distinct pleasure to announce Arnotts as our new East of Ireland sponsor for the next three years,” said captain Mark Briscoe. He added that Arnotts’ heritage as Ireland’s oldest department store made it “a perfect partner to one of Ireland’s oldest championships.”
Alma Hanley, general manager at Arnotts, said the sponsorship reflects the retailer’s long-standing commitment to Irish sport and supports plans to expand its golf retail proposition through a new dedicated golf shop opening in partnership with McGuirks Golf.
