Industry NewsAMS extends Exeter City sponsorship to Academy level
AMS has extended its sponsorship of Exeter City FC to include the club's Academy, giving the Exeter-based global support solutions firm visibility across the club's youth development pathway as it deepens a relationship built since relocating its headquarters to the city. The extension builds on AMS's existing role as men's first team warm-up kit partner and its more recent shorts sponsorship, with the AMS branding now also appearing on the Under-18s squad as they compete in the EFL Youth Alliance league this season.
AMS is a global support solutions provider specialising in defence logistics, supply chain and infrastructure management, which relocated its headquarters from Dubai to Exeter, with support offices also in Florida. Founded in 2001, the company has delivered defence support services for governments across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Exeter City FC is an English professional football club based at St James Park in Exeter, playing in EFL League Two for the 2026/27 season following relegation, and majority owned by the not-for-profit Exeter City Supporters' Trust. The club's Academy has produced Premier League players including Ollie Watkins and Matt Grimes.
The extension follows a now-familiar pattern for AMS at Exeter City, adding a third sponsorship tier at the club within roughly a year of its first partnership, moving from first-team kit exposure down to the Academy level.
AMS chief executive Gary Riordan has previously said the company's move to Exeter was a strategic decision to invest in a place reflecting its ethos, and that partnering with a club rooted in community and ambition was a natural fit for the business.
For the sector, backing the Academy extends brand visibility to a pathway that has produced current Premier League players, giving a relatively new arrival to the city sustained association with one of its most established sporting institutions across multiple age groups rather than a single first-team asset.
The layered structure illustrates how a company entering a new regional market can use football sponsorship at several levels within the same club, first-team, training kit and now youth football, to build community recognition incrementally rather than through a single, larger commitment.
