Aboitiz Group commits to fifth consecutive year backing Ironman 70.3 Davao

The Aboitiz Group has renewed its sponsorship partnership with the City Government of Davao for Ironman 70.3 Davao, marking the fifth consecutive year of support for the international endurance sporting event, according to Mindanao Times.

Eduardo Aboitiz, president of Apo Agua Infrastructure, and Jokin Aboitiz, first vice president for business development and corporate services at AboitizPower Distribution Utilities, represented the group's Davao business units at the sponsors' ceremonial signing at BYD Showroom on 22 January 2026. The Philippine conglomerate operates through Davao Light and Power Co., Therma South, Hedcor and Apo Agua Infrastructura across the region.

The 2026 race will take place on 22 March, showcasing Davao City Coastal Road and Mount Apo to first-time and seasoned athletes. The event coincides with the city's chartered anniversary.

Eduardo Aboitiz said the group maintains longstanding support for Davao's local government initiatives. "We are proud to support multiple initiatives and events across the city, and we commend Davao's forward-looking efforts to promote a healthy and active lifestyle for all," he stated.

Francis Layog, Davao City administrator, said the event will demonstrate local hospitality. "We hope to meet them with a warm Dabawenyo hospitality and foster camaraderie during our city's chartered anniversary," he noted.

The Aboitiz Group continues to support the city through reliable power and bulk water supply, enabling households, businesses and public institutions to meet daily needs. The group has sponsored Ironman as part of its long-term partnership with the city since 2018.

Princess Galura, president and managing director of Sunrise Events, attended the ceremonial signing alongside Tristan Dwight Dominggo, Davao City assistant administrator and bus project manager.
